Week 7

Hi 7 Greeners,

This week has been a big one.  You have completed your Maths Test (I am in the middle of marking them as I type this :P).

Grammar
You need to be studying hard for your exam.  Remember what we have covered so far:

  • Inverted Commas
  • Definite and Indefinite Articles
  • Colon/Semi Colons
Not very hard stuff, but you still need to revise your work.  It only takes 2 or 3 minutes a night. Maybe you could get your parents to test you?

Poetry
You have done your song deconstruction already and I am in the middle of marking your efforts with this, next your will try a couplet.  This is going to be fun, you will have to do it on the theme "The End".  Mrs C will take you through this tomorrow if there is no sport.  How exciting!

Maths
Oh no, just when you thought it was all over, we have some more to do.  Percentages is the next mathematics we will investigate.  Hmmm, what is a percentage anyway?

Well enjoy the remainder of your week and see you all on Monday!

Be good to Mrs C! :)

Week 6 - Celebrating St. Bernardine's Day

Hi 7 Greeners,

This week has been full of surprises.

Persuasive Essays
We started off with polishing off our persuasive essays - we even used some more computer time to become experts on our various topics.

Anti Ads
We also worked on putting together our Anti Ads - telling the absolute truth about our chosen product.   Check out the Twitter Pics to get an idea on what we are to expect...

Maths
Rounding whole numbers and decimals... well you totally have it now 7 Green... Remember your little Mantra... Underline the number, Look next door... yeah, go on and go and sing it to your family.  OK remember that your Maths Test is next Wednesday... so get studying peeps!

St. Bernardine Feast Day
Well, we celebrated in style this year.  Mr Aspland treated us to dancing renditions of the Nut Bush and some Line Dancing Billy Ray Cyrus style.  I'm afraid that I have pulled a few muscles while showing you all my best moves...

Hope you all have a lovely relaxing weekend filled with purposeful study and healthy eating.

Meanwhile, here is a little bit of Miley's dad to make your mums happy!
Ms C :)

Week 5 comes alive...

7 Greeners,

Tomorrow is the beginning of the NAPLAN tests.  Remember to pack a healthy lunch and have all your stationery needs.

Persuasive Essay
Tonight I would like you to have a look at your persuasive essays and use the information you gathered in Computer Lab today to help you make STRONG arguments for your topic. Remember, you need to be an expert on your topic to have strong persuasive writing.

Grammar Tests
Mrs C and I are extremely happy with your results on the Grammar Test.  We can see the students that have put in 100% effort to their study on this subject.

Maths
You SHOULD be taking a couple of minutes every night to study over the concepts we have done in class time.  Perhaps you could get your sister/brother/mum/dad/dog/cat to help you study?  We covered Range today in class, maybe you can tell you sister/brother/mum/dad/dog/cat what that is exactly.

Anti-Ad
Start scanning the television for Anti-Ad material.  Perhaps you already have an idea on what you would like to do with your group.... Group? Did I put you in a group?  No? Oh well, we will have to do this when we next get a chance.  Remember... you need to tell the absolute truth about a product.

Have a great week 7 Green!

Mrs C and Ms C

Week 4 and there is fun galore

Firstly, congratulations to Melony who came first in her age group at the District Cross Country Championships held last week at Greenbank.

Next week we will have Naplan tests for Year 7 students in Literacy and Numeracy.
Next week, the students will undertake the National Literacy and Numeracy tests on Tuesday 14 May (Language conventions and Writing Tests), Wednesday 15 May (Reading) and Thursday 16 May (Numeracy). On these days we ask that students receive a good night sleep before each test day, are well-nourished with a hearty breakfast and plenty of food for throughout the day (students do tend to eat more on these days) and are well-prepared with sharp pencils and erasers. Other materials, such as working out paper, will be provided in class.

We encourage our students to give every question a go, to persevere and to try their best at all times.
The students NAPLAN reports will be sent home, usually at the end of Term Three. We stress the importance of keeping these in a safe and known place as high schools will ask for these upon enrolment.

On Wednesday 22 May we will celebrate St Bernardine’s Feast Day. On this day, the school celebrates with liturgy at 9am in Siena. We invite parents and friends to stay and join us in this ritual. Throughout the day, every year level will see the “ZimboyZ” performance in Siena and enjoy a sausage sizzle and ice block from the school. Students are permitted to wear free dress on the day but are asked to bring in a gold coin donation to raise money for our Mission appeal.

Dioramas on the Water Cycle

A very big congratulations to 7 Greeners for their hard work on their dioramas.  Here are some of the 7 Green students showing off their fantastic efforts.

Wednesday 1 May 2013

7 Green you are charging ahead like a bunch of bulls at a gate... :)

7 Green you are doing an outstanding job.  A reminder about what work you need to concentrate on this coming week.

  1. Maths work sheet on Fractions (due Monday 6 May)
  2. Water Cycle Explanations - these will be pasted onto the back of your dioramas (due Monday 6 May)
  3. Study for Grammar Test
  4. Study for Maths Test
  5. Persuasive Essay Writing (REMEMBER to use the work we have been doing in class to help you write a persuasive argument - YOUR OPINION MUST HAVE A REASON to back it up)
And like I keep banging on about, if you study for even just 2 minutes a night on each subject area (e.g. maths, grammar etc..) you will be doing yourself a great favour.

Any questions can be directed to Mrs C or me on mcarabetta@bne.catholic.edu.au
Have a great rest of the week 7 Green!  Best class in the universe!  Oh yeah!
