Week 5 comes alive!

Hi 7 Green,

This week is going to be a beauty.

Firstly Mrs C and I would like to congratulate the children who received the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist on Sunday the 4th of August.  We understand that Bishop Joseph Oudeman held the ceremony.  We pray as a community that the candidates be inspired to live a life like Jesus.

A reminder that our Fathers Day Celebration and Prayer will be on Friday August 30 starting at 7:15am.  We will begin with a liturgy of the word in the church followed by a BBQ breakfast just outside of the church. 

The Qld. Catholic Music Festival on Friday the 16th August will see our Choir and Band compete.  So we wish them all good luck in their endeavours.

Show Holiday:
A reminder that the show holiday in Logan is Monday, August 12.  The school will be closed. However it is not a holiday on the Wednesday and school will operate as normal. 

Interschool Sport:
Summer Interschool Sport starts in Week 8, Friday 30th August 2013.  Interschool sport takes place on Friday afternoons, from 12 noon, for all of our Year 6 and Year 7 students. Interschool sport is a fantastic opportunity for student to represent St Bernardine's and be a member of a sporting team.  All teams have an individual coach, which are our fantastic and talented teaching staff!  Teams will train every Thursday morning from 8:00 - 9:00 am.  Training will commence in Week 6 - Thursday 15th August. 

Well done 7 Green on your Grammar test results.  Mrs C and I are very proud of you.  We can tell who put in the extra effort in their study - it is reflected in your results! 

This week we will be looking at conversion of measurements.  We will have you measuring some real life objects and then going ahead and converting them into different units of measure.  Just a reminder that there will be a Maths Test in Week 6 - some start studying 2 minutes a night to get it right in your head. 

History:
We will continue to work through Enid the Etruscan and hopefully build our Etruscan Arch!
